i sleep in

i sleep in
because i know that waking
up will only bring with it
knowledge
unwanted knowledge
of being unwanted

i stay up
because i don't want
to give in to death
to cry again

i stay up waiting
for somebody to hold me
i stay up
waiting

but i know tomorrow will come
and i will need to rise
i do not see a purpose for my life
